I began my real estate career 2.5 years before my first child was born, and at the time, I was kind of like, “Schools? What schools? There are schools??!” It just wasn’t a huge concern of mine. Of course, I quickly learned that highly-rated schools are generally an indicator of desirable neighborhoods (depending on one’s definition), and I quickly educated myself to better serve my clients. Fast forward seven years, and I now have THREE (hello whirlwind) children – the oldest of which will be starting kindergarten in just two weeks. As you can imagine, finding homes within the boundaries of a highly rated elementary school has become crucial in my own family’s search.
It’s important to note that in Oregon, GreatSchools ratings are based ONLY on standardized test scores. You can read more about their methodology here. When assessing schools, families should also consider factors such as parent reviews, student/teacher ratios, immersion programs, special education programs and extracurricular activities.
Without further ado, here are the top-rated elementary schools in Northeast Portland! I’ve also created an automatically updating gallery of homes within these schools’ boundaries that you can view here.
